@brennamelnyk I actually do that with my ferret to clip her nails! I don’t put it on the wall I actually put it on her belly :) Never thought about using it on a dog. I will have to try that on my demonized pug.

TheGirlWithAFedora February 21, 2012 at 10:10 am

@chocoberrybutterfly if u have trouble grooming him here is a tip that will work: Take a table spoon of peanut butter, put it on the wall that you will be facing when you groom s/he then your dog will lick the peanut butter off the wall, in the mean time when he is doing that groom him! hope this advice helps! P.S peanut butter will not harm your shih tzu trust me i have a shih tuz cross maltese and it does not harm him a bit! :) if you have anymore questions about that then message me back!

chocoberrybutterfly February 21, 2012 at 12:52 pm

oh how i wish my shih tzu behaves like this,,,he cant even stay for a while….the veterinarian said he is the most active shih tzu haha…super hyper! =)

WARNING!do not try this at home.this is a tedious and technical chore only for an expeirienced professinal groomer!!(unles you have great pet insurance so your local animal emergency clinic can sew up the mess you made,or reattach the ears or toes,or tounge, depending on what you tried to do,)

somenewmusician23 February 21, 2012 at 2:11 pm

kinda funny. i was watching the real slim shady live and this was the first suggestion.

blarson1983 February 21, 2012 at 2:22 pm

OMG I cringe watching her scissor over the paw pads. That’s so dangerous. I don’t recommend that for non professionals.

rodica69 February 21, 2012 at 2:23 pm

I love the way she handles the doggie.
The stress for the doggie seems to be minimum to none – as a client, I do appreciate that along with grooming’s final result.

sassiesk8r February 21, 2012 at 2:27 pm

i fuckin love this lady

nozumisakuma February 21, 2012 at 3:01 pm

THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

sweetnluvly07 February 21, 2012 at 3:04 pm

lol she’s funny “am i on the way?”

SakumaRyuichiNG February 21, 2012 at 4:02 pm

That’s right ;_; a golden rule
My mom once tried to groom my bichon and she cut her; my poor baby doesn’t let her stay near of her when she has scissor and I definitely agree.
To groom takes hours and hours but honestly nothing as do it yourself, at least my babe let me do whatvs and I have never hurt her (NOT AS YOU MOTHER!)
i would love to know which blades to use on clippers :s … need a good vid with that info!

lolmetaknight February 21, 2012 at 5:00 pm

yay shi tzu!

Belleabooful February 21, 2012 at 5:42 pm

aww the dog is so cute and so good on the table. Shih-tzu is my favorite breed of dog to groom.

shannara67 February 21, 2012 at 6:18 pm

thx for advice but lucky we took her to the vet, and to find she has allergies, good thing we went, we also found out she has to get teeth maintence , apparently small dog have lots of dental problems

cazkelly1986 February 21, 2012 at 6:56 pm

If you brush and comb your dog out properly every day you shouldn’t get any mats, even if your dog does bite themselves. You might want to check him for fleas if he’s biting.

wshijie February 21, 2012 at 7:32 pm

i hav a shihpoo too…she looks cute….
and i really dunno how to groom her….
she is a black girl…

CocoaBean723 February 21, 2012 at 7:40 pm

i want to groom my maltese, yorkie, and shipoo

ktco83 February 21, 2012 at 8:05 pm

your wrong, hitting a dog will not teach him. it will make him want to get groomed even less next time.

ktco83 February 21, 2012 at 8:54 pm

try laying your dog over on his back until he calms down. he is being dominate over you, you must be the dominate one.

venusvine February 21, 2012 at 9:36 pm

Thank you expert Village..

nikigurl08 February 21, 2012 at 9:41 pm

If your dogs bites you make sure your not hurting him. But you can try a harness on his neck, so he can’t reach you. But if you keep tryin to bite you just smack on the nose and say “NO” dog needs to know your in charge, and you will not tolerate his biting.

Goldenchesnut February 21, 2012 at 9:43 pm

I live in england but would love you to clip my shih tzu! your so kind them most groomers just drag the clippers along them that’s why I do my dog myself, you amazing!!

iplaymytele February 21, 2012 at 10:34 pm

I think you do an awesome job! I completed grooming school and am working at a salon, but not for pay yet. Your videos have taught me more than anything I have learned so far. It’s hard to learn how to do heads especially! I need some words of encouragement, because I don’t have confidence in myself and this is so much my passion!!! Keep up the great work!

klaritydawn February 21, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Love ur video, the cut isn’t something I would like on my dog. From the look of China she needs to be cut that short all over since it appears she’s a matted up mess! :( I hate it when ppl don’t take care of their dogs no matter what the reason it just ticks me off. You’re doing a fantastic job though and I’m going to watch the rest of your videos.

TheLoneWolf52 February 21, 2012 at 10:57 pm

i need to let you see my Honey (Shih tzu that almost died as a pup, her mask is incredible) see my better vid here on YouTube) she’s the gold and white one.

rmpbklyn February 21, 2012 at 11:01 pm

@Zacmosai b/c Lhasa Apso and Pekingese were mated to make Shih Tzu

deemilieu February 21, 2012 at 11:04 pm

step 1: plug in the electric trimmer.
step 2: run the trimmer all over the dog’s boday, removing the fur.

spanielmom93 February 21, 2012 at 11:26 pm

@nwl213 When bathing a Shih Tzu’s face you must be careful not to get soap in their eyes and not to get too much water in their mouths or in their noses. Since those are all right there in a tight little spot, I suggest you bath you Shih Tzu’s face with a warm soapy wash cloth, when done scrubbing the wrinkles and the face, rinse the wash cloth and wipe the soap off the dogs face, do this several times and be sure to leave NO soap behind especially pay close attention to the wrinkles!

spanielmom93 February 21, 2012 at 11:35 pm

@bigBrude41 Been a professional dog groomer for almost 9 years now. I guess I just learned on the job and at Atlanta pet fair in Atlanta Georgia. Then I went to another expo in Kansas City MIssouri… that is how I learned to groom all the dogs I groom. :)

spanielmom93 February 22, 2012 at 12:33 am

@Jessicague315 You can use whatever blade you like on your dog if it’s not matted. ;) You can watch my video on clippers and blades and it will show you the different blades. ;)

Jessicague315 February 22, 2012 at 1:30 am

if it is not matted what blade do you use on the body?? thanks

Zacmosai February 22, 2012 at 2:26 am

Looks more like a Lhasa Apso to me…

spanielmom93 February 22, 2012 at 3:11 am

@bbblueyz I am using a 10 or 15 on her face. Good luck on your little guy! ;)

bbblueyz February 22, 2012 at 3:51 am

What blade are you using on the face? I heard the 40 around the eyes, but what about the rest of the face? Thanks! Love the videos. They’ve helped me out a lot. Just started to groom my 15 almost 16 year old Shih Tzu myself.

bigBrude41 February 22, 2012 at 4:16 am

how did you learn to cut a shih tzu’s hair??? i would suck at it! so could you tell me???

luxeluxe February 22, 2012 at 4:52 am

Great video, very helpful, thanks! Off to watch your other ones.

nwl213 February 22, 2012 at 5:15 am

Hi there nice video, can u teach me how to clean my Shih Tzu hair around her eye and chin coz my doggy got tear stain and also his chin fur is turning red due to drinking from bowl. Thanks in advance

Minimoonstone333 February 22, 2012 at 6:00 am

Lol cute dog, but the lighting is a little dark.

flyby7a February 22, 2012 at 6:49 am

i BOUGHT A Shih tzu… I GOT SCAMMED… THIS DOG IS MORE SHIH T than ZU.. :O(

spanielmom93 February 22, 2012 at 6:56 am

@Chamozovitala Probably a 7 or 5 blade, depending on how matted. If the coat is really close to the skin then I would suggest a 7, if it is a little grown out from the skin you could get away with a 5. Good luck!

Chamozovitala February 22, 2012 at 7:39 am

Which one will be the ideal blade size for grooming mated fur on a shitzu?

adelefreire February 22, 2012 at 8:15 am

poor girl!

testtube173 February 22, 2012 at 9:00 am

She is so well behaved for such a scary experience. I’m about to get a rescue dog from my girlfriends sisters work. I am just getting a sense of what I’m in for lol. Thanks for the video.

foda99productions February 22, 2012 at 9:48 am

That is a really smart and nice dog to sit there so still and let you groom her face like that!

flyby7a February 22, 2012 at 10:13 am

Great video

spanielmom93 February 22, 2012 at 10:24 am

@shell236 Thank you! Thanks for rescueing your little guy and I hope he learns to tolerate it for you. ;) Bless his little heart, there really is no telling what these little guys go through before we save them sometimes. :)
