Umm…. useless. The human and animal hair idea might have been a great idea 3 months ago. But BP was allowed complete freedom to spew toxic dispersant into the gulf. So now the oil is subsurface, or in the air. And the hair is completely useless now. I saw a video where a couple farmers were demonstrating using hay to absorb the surface oil. It appeared to work really good. But of course such an environmentally friendly solution could never be permitted.
That is such a creative way to contribute help! I had been unaware that this was an option until now, but I work in a dog grooming salon as well, and will look into ways to make the same kind of hair donation! Every little bit counts!

what a great idea! anything helps
lol that doesnt work so well they have a polymer that sucks up oil 10x more then hair that Bp is using with the skimming boats.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE ADORABLE LITTLE SHORTS!
I love ‘em.
I donated my hair to do that too.
GGGG-UNITTT! straight up southside
you can make an inexpensive alternative by simply tying the clip end of an old leash to your grooming arm – it’s not as adjustable but works pretty good
I wish these weren’t so expensive.
