The other day, I was outside at the dog park, watching my best mate enjoy the other young dogs out there. I own a medium sized mutt who is a bit temperamental, so play time at the park is always a bit dicey. On a good number of days, I have to watch my four-legged friend constantly, less he enters a fight with one of the larger dogs. During this particular day, however, I was going into another problem. Quite simply, my puppy dog just did not seem to want to play. He sort of skulked around and sulked as the other doggies frolicked around him. I took a better look, which is when I saw it: he was shaking.

I had not bought any clothes and accessories for dogs previously except for the basics. I purchased him a simple collar, the best leash that was about five feet long, and also a couple of toys to play with. When I noticed my doggy that cold, however, I knew that it was time to start searching for dog clothes. I went down to the nearby dog store and bought a simple sweater. It was woolly and dense, and it seemed pretty warm. When I tried to use it my dog, however, I was in for a bit of a surprise: the bad-tempered pup preferred nothing to do with it.
Then I recognized that dogs are every bit as tricky as people are. While I was looking for accessories for dogs, I had never even considered the possibility that my puppy would not like what I got for him, but the evidence was right before my eyes. He would twist, twitch, scowl, and squirm after i tried to put the dog sweater on him.
There are still numerous people who consider that dog sweaters are ineffective. If you fit in with that group, then perhaps it’s already time for you to see things from a different perspective. A dog sweater is not merely a fashion statement. Some breeds do actually need sweater for protection and warmth. It is not uncommon to see average dogs with sweaters nowadays. The truth is that increasingly more companies now offer dog clothes.

I tried buying a looser weave of sweater for him, and that seemed to do the trick. I think that the first sweater could have been a little bit too scratchy. However the second sweater was not as warm as the first, it was still quite a bit warmer. There is a local pet store that specializes in accessories for dogs, so I was capable of getting a few more of the same kind once I understood what he liked. I even picked up a jogging leash for him while I was there. Now he is looking good, feeling alright even in the cold weather, and returning to picking fights with the other dogs.
